Introduction to Quicklaw
Learn the fundamentals of Quicklaw searching using the following enhanced features: content-specific search forms to target specific content types such as court decisions, tribunal cases, legislation and more; dynamic display options and results filtering to better view, sort and organize search results; recent searches and document history to keep track of important searches; and alerts to stay informed and prepared. Discover how to search by name, citation or keyword; navigate and refine search results; deliver documents; and note up cases and statutes using the QuickCITE™ Case Citator and the QuickCITE™ Statute Citator.
Searching Canadian Legislation
Learn about the Quicklaw collection of federal and provincial legislation, including Point-in-Time statutes collections, which provide provisions in effect on a specified date. Find out about the new QuickCITE Statute Citator, as well as how to search for an entire act, a section of an act, an act’s history, regulations and bills.
Practice Pages
These sessions focus on a specific area of practice. They include a review of the interface and customized examples focusing on case law, enhanced legislation and secondary sources. Discover Practice Pages on Quicklaw™, which contain the essential secondary and primary material used by a practitioner in a given area of law. Content includes Canada Digest products and Halsbury’s Laws of Canada, online versions of leading Butterworths topical print titles in a given research area, and selected benchmark treatises of general practice — all fully searchable and interactive, with direct hyperlinks to primary material referred to in the text.
Note: Each Practice page requires a Quicklaw account and a separate subscription.
Searching International Materials
Quicklaw provides access to essential international primary and secondary content — case law, legislation, commentary and case citators from the United Kingdom, the United States, and Australia and New Zealand. The U.K. legal collection is the only electronic resource containing both of the leading U.K. case law resources — the All England Law Reports and The Law Reports (ICLR). This session includes a review of the interface, and customized examples highlighting U.S. and U.K. case law, legislation, commentary and citators. Learn about basic search logic, including terms-and-connectors searching, as well as the document viewing, filtering and delivery options available on Quicklaw.
Note: International content requires a Quicklaw account and a separation subscription. (These sessions are available on request.)
